On December 13, 2022, Brazilian powerhouse Flamengo Football Club officially announced that former Shanghai Port meritorious coach, 54-year-old Pereira will take the helm of the team and start a new chapter.
Going back to December 2017 to December 2020, Pereira's tenure at Shanghai Port not only helped the team win the Chinese Super League title, but also managed to lift the China Super Cup.
Portuguese-born Pereira has a wealth of coaching experience, having worked as a coach at clubs such as Santa Clara, Porto, Jeddah National, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, Munich 1860 and Corinthians. Just last month, he ended his tenure at Corinthians and is now embarking on a new journey, seeing Flamengo as a new challenge.
