On December 12, a series of remarkable records were mercilessly broken as the curtain fell on the 2022 season of the Central League. The Football Gazette revealed that the season has been a tumultuous one.

The Kunshan team took the trophy with a king's grace, not only did they set a new history, but also surpassed the high scoring record of 2.375 points held by Guangzhou Evergrande in 2010 with an average of 2.62 points per game. What's even more amazing is that the team's record of 28 wins, 5 draws and 1 loss, with a cumulative total of 89 points, surpassed Wuhan Sanzhen's 79 points from last season and became the new record holder. In 34 league games this season, Guangxi Pingguo Hahong collected 17 draws, a number that also set a new record for draws in the Central League and even China's professional leagues.

However, not all stories are so glamorous. For the fourth time in five years, Xinjiang Tianshan Xuebao suffered the fate of relegation. Although the previous three relegations were successful in returning to the Central League, given the wave of withdrawals from both the Chinese Super League and the Central League, as well as the salary arrears faced by the team, it is doubtful whether Xinjiang Tianshan Xuebao will be able to return to the Central League again after its fourth relegation.
