On October 27th, the night in Beijing witnessed the semi-finals of the U17 Women's World Cup come to an end, with two women's soccer teams, Spain and Colombia, beating Germany and Nigeria in different ways to make it to the final showdown. It is worth mentioning that these two teams were the opponents of our women's soccer team in the group stage.
Spain's women's soccer team shut out Germany 1-0 in the semifinals to avenge their penalty kicks loss in the European Championship final with a win, while Colombia defeated Nigeria 6-5 on penalties after a thrilling battle. Looking back at the group stage, Spain had a narrow 1-0 win over Nigeria.
In the group stage, although our U17 women's soccer team faced Colombia and Spain with losses, they showed impressive chances to break through in the game. Unfortunately, these chances could not be converted into goals due to a lack of experience and mentality. Despite being at a disadvantage, a draw or even a win is not impossible if they can improve their ability to capitalize on their chances.
In an interview, Wang Anzhi, the head coach of our U17 women's soccer team, gave full marks to the team's fighting spirit. Although he rated the team's technical play at 60 to 70 points, he firmly believes that through such top-level tournaments, the players have gained valuable experience, broadened their horizons and laid a solid foundation for their future personal development.
