On October 7, news spread quickly on social media: the head coach of Wuhan Sanzhen's reserve soccer team, Spaniard Salva, announced the end of his one-year tenure at Wuhan Sanzhen in an emotionally charged post on his personal account.
Salva has been coaching at the Evergrande Football Academy since 2018, and at the end of October last year, he embarked on a journey to Wuhan Three Town to take over the head coaching role of the reserve team. In March this year, he revealed on social media platforms that he hadn't been back to Spain for two years and that he missed his family.
Today, Salva took to Twitter to bid a fond farewell to the three towns of Wuhan, which reads as follows:
It seems like yesterday, but I have already spent a whole year as the head coach of the reserve team at Wuhan Sanzhen Soccer Salon. Although we have not participated in any official matches, we have had many good results in friendly matches, which has not only boosted our training work, but also made significant progress in player development.
In 2022, our team has not lost to a truly out-of-conference team, with the only defeat coming 1-3 in a match against the first team earlier in the season. The other loss was against Hainan Stars, who featured many of my former disciples. We also had a draw against a Central League 1 team, Guangxi Pingguo Ha Loud and Clear. We also won a match against Hubei Young Stars, a Central B team. Nonetheless, the team was extremely mobile, with a maximum of 63 players in my hands for training, while at times there were only 5. Many players did not stay due to contractual issues, which made my job quite challenging. However, on a positive note, the year has given me valuable experience and has made me more comfortable with management, socializing and dealing with people.
Nonetheless, I would like to express my gratitude for the opportunity given by the club to learn many new things and become more well-rounded.
The year at Wuhan Sanzhen Football Salon was the shortest tenure at a club in my 22-year coaching career. However, it was all positive for me and I learned to see soccer in a whole new light.
As I said before, despite the imminent departure, I would like to express my gratitude for the opportunity given by the club and wish Wuhan Sanzhen Football Salon all the best for a prosperous future!
