In 2016, Yan Xiang took over the youth training director from Wu Jingui, Shenhua in order to strengthen its own blood production function, continue to expand the scale and quality of youth training. Establishing cooperation with Yangpu Football School, Sports Bureau, and Junior Sports School, but still recognizing that the overall strength of certain age groups in the youth training system is weak.In 2018, Shenhua fully acquired the 1999/2000 age group teams.
In 2017, the salon hired foreign coaches to take charge of the team, and Spanish youth coach David Pirie became the head coach of the Oasis Shenhua U16 team.In 2018, Croatian coach Baisek took over as Shenhua's youth training consultant and head coach of the U03 team.
In order to solve the problem of weak youth training roots, Shenhua gradually established a system by acquiring an entire team in the early stage, but the overall acquisition could not fundamentally solve the problem of reserve forces. Therefore, from 2019 onwards, Shenhua continued to expand the scale of youth training to enhance the ability of self-blood creation.
In the summer of 2019, Shenhua cooperated with the Spanish NAMA soccer training camp, following the introduction of the Spanish and Serbian head coach, once again invited the European coaching team to improve the youth training system. 2020 the two sides formally reached a cooperation, the Spanish coaching team to participate in the Shenhua youth training camp of the enrollment selection, daily training, the elite team competitions and other aspects of the training camp for the development of personalized, high-level training programs for young players, but also for the Chinese side The coaching team will also provide an opportunity for the Chinese team to learn and communicate advanced soccer concepts.
In addition to quantity and quality, Salon's management upholds the principle of not seeking fame when selecting youth training coaches, preferring to give more opportunities to those coaches who are down-to-earth, quietly cultivate youth training, and are committed to Chinese soccer.
Currently, Shenhua's head coaches at all levels include Yu Tao of the U21 team, Xu Yibin of the U19 team, Ye Zhanggen of the U17 team, Tao Jin of the U15 team, and Zheng Kewei of the U14 team. Among them, Xu Yibin graduated from Shanghai Putuo Soccer Campus, as the mentor of Wang Haijian and other players, he has cultivated youth training in Chinese soccer for decades; the other coaches also have a strong background in Shenhua, having played for Shenhua at different times. At a time when coaches are scarce, they do not seek to make profits and have been quietly plowing into youth training for many years, making them a valuable asset to the salon.
At present, there are nine teams in the age group from 11 to 19 years old developing steadily and becoming Shenhua's reserve force. It is understood that the total annual expenditure of a team is about 3 million dollars. On top of the normal operation of the team, there are quite a few expenditures directly or indirectly related to the youth training.
