Recently, the Korean media has continued to track the movements of Harbor foreigner Oscar. Reports indicate that despite Oscar's frustrated transfer attempts in the summer transfer window, his resolve to leave China next January has not wavered.
Reports reveal that Oscar has been actively pushing for his return to play in Brazil since the beginning of July. Family factors are certainly one of the reasons, but the financial woes of the Chinese Super League have also deeply disturbed him. He has made up his mind, even at the expense of his salary.
However, it was not to be. Although Oscar returned to Brazil and reached a personal agreement with Flamengo, even appearing publicly in a photo wearing Flamengo's uniform, the Shanghai seaport's transfer refusal made all the efforts go down the drain.
Discontent then built up and Oscar chose to stay in Brazil for training while Shanghai Seaport demanded his return. Despite Harbour's promise to continue paying his salary even if he did not compete, Oscar refused to return home and continued to look for a transfer.
Faced with a request from the Shanghai seaport to return in December, Oscar insisted on a move to Flamengo and even claimed he was willing to give up his €24 million annual salary, with his contract set to expire in 2024.
Since joining Shanghai Harbour in 2017, Oscar has broken the stereotype of the Chinese Super League as a retirement home for retired players. During his stint, he has appeared in 173 games, scoring 51 goals and contributing an impressive 94 assists.
