Dating back to 2016, Wuhan Sanzhen's predecessor, Shangwen FC, was founded.In 2018, the club changed its name to Wuhan Sanzhen, and has been on the road to reverse the trend ever since.In the 2019 season, they emerged from the Chinese Championship to qualify for the recursion to the Chinese League B.
