With the autumn breeze in the air, South Korean soccer is set for two key warm-up matches in September, aiming to put the finishing touches on the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. Korean media have revealed that Son Jun-ho, who plays for Shandong Taishan in the Chinese Super League, is expected to be a focal point on the national team roster this month.

Looking back, Son Jungho was in the South Korean squad for the East Asian Cup in July, but regretted his withdrawal due to injury, missing a key moment for coach Bento to observe the player's ability.

The two warm-up matches in September will see South Korea face Costa Rica on the 23rd and Cameroon on the 27th. The players on this selected roster are likely to be the lineup heading to the World Cup in Qatar.

During his return to South Korea to recuperate, Son Junho made a quick recovery at his old club Jeonbuk Hyundai and started two consecutive matches in the Chinese Super League, including a match against Shanghai Shenhua in which he created an opponent's oolong, and was in pretty good form.

The South Korean national team is short of talent at the back, with only Jung Woo-young at the moment. In the East Asian Cup match against Japan, Bento tried to play Kwon Kyung-won at the back, but the result was 0-3 against Japan. Given Sun Junho's past performance and competitiveness in the national team, he is expected to fill the vacancy in this position. Son Jun-ho has also expressed his desire to return to the national team on several occasions, and Korea's roster will be officially unveiled on the 13th.
