In the 56th minute, Guangzhou's Chen Rijin inadvertently knocked down Dalian's Shang Yin in a shoveling match at the left post, accumulating two yellow cards and being expelled from the game, making Dalian an 11-10 disadvantage. Immediately after that, veteran Li Xuepeng came on as a substitute, but failed to last more than five minutes on the field and received a yellow card for arguing with the referee. Afterwards, Li Xuepeng was so agitated that referee Guan Xing once considered showing a second yellow card.
