On August 16th, Xu Liang, a former famous Chinese soccer player, warmly exchanged views with fans on social media, frankly expressing his deep worries about the status quo of the national team and the youth training system.
Xu Liang recalled: "Frankly speaking, when I chose to retire, I did not get involved in coaching, nor did I have any experience in this field. At that time, I was not yet involved in youth soccer, but I still had a passion in my heart, a heart of gold, and a desire to contribute to society. Day in and day out, I searched for young soccer players to prepare for the future of Chinese soccer. However, when I went deeper into it, from the national team to local clubs to youth soccer, I traveled to every link, and now I have been retired for more than three years. I must say, really, people should stop watching Chinese soccer now."
"To the parents of kids who are playing soccer, my sincere advice: take my advice, if there are no minerals in the family and no networking resources, then give it up. Stop letting your kids play soccer and spend your time on something more productive. Really, the soccer environment has hit rock bottom now, and our generation has never experienced such a low point." Xu Liang said with earnest words.
