The Super League, the top futsal tournament of China's Football Association, kicked off in Qiannan Guizhou in the 2022 schedule. on August 9, Xinjiang Spartan Warriors, a new futsal team making its debut, was defeated by a strong Shijiazhuang Fomei team by a score of 2-8 in the first match.
This year's Futsal Premier League adopts the tournament system. As the highest hall of China's futsal, the league is also the only official futsal tournament in China that has entered the competition system of FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The scale of this season's tournament has expanded, with the number of teams increasing to 12 from last year's 10, and the whole season is divided into four phases, which were held in four regions, namely, Guizhou Qiannan, Ningxia Yinchuan, Fujian Longyan and Shandong Binzhou, with the first phase of the tournament being held from August 8th to August 21st in Qiannan as the first stop.
The Xinjiang Spartan Warriors, the leading futsal team in Xinjiang, consists mainly of current university students and recent graduates. The team won last year's Central League bye with seven wins, earning a ticket to the 2022 Futsal season.
Alken, the coach of NJ Spartan Warriors, said, "We won the title in the five-a-side league and brought in young players and foreigners, and the team's goal is still to stay in the relegation. As the club has just broken through to the Super League, we need to learn from the experienced Five Super League clubs."
Shijiazhuang Formica, the third-place finisher in the last Five Super League, has brought in two foreign players this year in a bid to achieve better results.
However, the Xinjiang Spartan Warriors fell behind 1-5 in the first half of the game and eventually lost 2-8.
Xiao Xiao, the leader of Xinjiang Spartan Warriors, said in an interview, "This is our team's first professional tournament, and some of the players are still in isolation, and the rotation is limited. Although we were a bit nervous and made mistakes in the opening game, the overall performance was good. We believe the team will be able to overcome the difficulties and regroup in the upcoming matches to get our first win in the Five Super League."
