Since stepping into Sports TOTO's camp in South Korea in 2013 and then moving to Paris Saint-Germain in 2018, Wang's soccer journey has taken her from Asia across the Atlantic to North America. Now, she joins Louisville Athletic in the NWSL, wearing No. 77. Speaking about this return to the soccer world, Wang Frost is adamant: "I aspire to return home stronger!"
It's worth noting that Wang Frost joined Louisville Athletic as a free agent this time around thanks to the full support of her former owner, Wuhan Chegu Jiangda. The club's general manager and head coach Chang Weiwei said, "We unconditionally support Wang Frost's pursuit of her dream of playing abroad, and hope that she will continue to improve in the top clubs in Europe and the United States and give back to her country and hometown in better shape." Wang Frost also expressed her deep appreciation to Wuhan Chegu Jiangda Women's Football Club, "Wuhan Chegu Jiangda Women's Football Club will always be my family, and no matter what happens in the future, my first choice will still be Wuhan Women's Football Club, because it is my hometown."
Louisville Athletic Women's Soccer, a newcomer to the NWSL, is currently in ninth place in the league. Despite the overall higher level of the European Women's Soccer League, Wang chose the Americas in anticipation of experiencing a different team style. "I already have experience staying in Asia and Europe, and I chose the Americas this time because I wanted to broaden my horizons." Wang Frost said.
Another reason Wang Frost is joining the Louisville Athletics women's soccer team is because the team's head coach, Cam Bjorkgren, who coached the Beijing Beijng Phoenix in China in 2018-2019, was impressed with Wang Frost. "We are excited to have Wang Frost on board. Being Louisville Athletic's second year in the U.S. National Women's Soccer League, we look forward to her contributing in goals and assists to help the team in the league." Coach Cam Bjorkgren said.
At 27, Wang Frost is eager to challenge herself and step out of her comfort zone. "The world is so vast, I want to explore it. I love soccer and am willing to work hard for it. Even though I have 20 years of playing experience, I still want to improve. I look forward to still having the opportunity to study abroad and return better in my prime, and I want to be stronger when I return home." Wang Frost revealed in the interview.
Shui Qingxia, head coach of the Chinese women's soccer team, expressed her support for Wang Frost's stay in the U.S. and hoped that she would be able to adjust herself in a new environment, while suggesting, "Wang Frost should have new requirements when she arrives in a new environment to make sure that everything goes well in her life and training in the team." The water guide also reminded Wang Frost to pay attention to her health and improve her English. Wang Frost also said, "Director Shui and the China Women's Football Association support me and hope that I can go out to see more, and he also gave me an explanation of the daily precautions and made some points in terms of technical and tactical."
Compared to the first two times she stayed in the ocean, the 27-year-old Wang Frost is more mature and more calm. She believes that staying in the ocean is for a better self, and hopes to broaden her horizons through staying in the ocean. Currently, Wang Frost has arrived at the Louisville Athletic Women's Soccer Club and has met with her teammates and coaches. Before joining, she started learning English online two months in advance.
Since the NWSL does not have strict limitations on jersey numbers, Wang Frost chose No. 77 because she is No. 7 in the national team, and No. 7 is a lucky number for her, and she wants to wear numbers with 7 to show herself in training and matches.
With the opening of her third stay in China, Wang Frost has faced the challenges more calmly with her two stays in China. At the time of the rise of European women's soccer, she chose to go abroad to find a stronger self. Wang Frost's plan to stay in the world has set an example for Chinese women's soccer players, and is important for players to broaden their horizons and improve their level.
