
On August 10, Chinese women's soccer star Wang Frost reached an agreement with the Louisville Athletics of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), marking the third time she will embark on an overseas journey. Wang Frost signed a one-and-a-half-year deal with the team that covers the period until the end of 2023. The 27-year-old central midfielder, who has stayed in South Korea and France, will once again expand her career with this addition.
The Louisville Athletics announced back on Aug. 2 that they had acquired Wang Frost's playing rights from the Lyon Monarchs in a deal that saw the Louisville Athletics pay Lyon $30,000 in allocated funds and receive a 2023 NWSL fourth-round draft pick.
Wang Frost, born on January 23, 1995 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, specializes in the midfield and forward positions. She joined the South Korean Chungbuk TOTO women's soccer team in 2013 to start her overseas career and helped the team win the league's second place in six months. After returning to China, she joined Wuhan Chedujiangda Women's Football Team and was loaned to Dalian Quanjian Women's Football Team in 2016.In 2018, Wang Frost joined Paris Saint-Germain Women's Football Team in France and won the second place in Ligue 1 with the team. In July of the same year, she terminated her contract with Paris Saint-Germain and returned to Wuhan women's soccer.
At the international level, Wang Frost has been a member of the national junior team since 2006, and made her debut for the Chinese women's soccer team in 2013.In 2015, she represented China's women's soccer team at the World Cup, and made an appearance at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In terms of individual honors, Wang Frost won the title of Miss Football Asia 2018, as well as four China Women's Golden Ball Awards.
The NWSL, or National Women's Soccer League, is the top professional women's soccer league in the United States, which began in the spring of 2013 with eight teams, four of which originated in the original U.S. Women's Professional Soccer League.
