South Korea got the 2022 East Asian Cup off to a good start with a clean 3-0 win over China in their first match of the tournament. Local media in South Korea are saying that the Chinese national soccer team's "fear of Korea" still seems to be lingering.
After the game, Korean coach Bento commented, "Overall, it was a pretty good game. We were way ahead in terms of possession and had a firm grip on the game for the full 90 minutes. We scored three goals and actually had chances to score more, and the win was well deserved in the end."
Bento added: "China defended as hard as they could, but we still broke their defense by scoring."
Immediately after that, South Korea will play their next opponent in the East Asian Cup, Hong Kong, China, on July 24th.
