On July 16, Football Daily disclosed that Guangzhou City's negotiations with players over unpaid wages were unsuccessful, and that the two sides would restart the dialog after the team returned to its training base.
Recently, R&F Group issued a personnel change announcement, Guangzhou City Club management ushered in the adjustment, the original chairman Huang Shenghua and general manager Guo Nengpei both stepped down, Huang Yu and Zhang Bin took over. It is worth noting that Zhang Bin is no stranger to the club.
Both Huang Yu and Zhang Bin wear several hats, as they are the chairman and president of R&F's Shenzhen, Dongguan and Huizhou Urban Renewal Group, respectively. The two have worked together for more than two and a half years since they were paired together at the end of 2019 in the SZDH Urban Renewal Group (which was formally established in January 2020).
After Guangzhou City returned to Guangzhou from the Haikou tournament on July 11, Zhang Bin quickly intervened and had one-on-one exchanges with each of the team's players with the aim of discussing solutions to the unpaid wages. At the same time, he also had an in-depth discussion on the team's morale and spirit.
However, the face-to-face exchanges on July 11 and 12 did not make substantial progress due to the team's long closed training period. The club then decided to take a vacation, and the two sides will continue to negotiate after the team regroups.
