In the late afternoon of July 11, the organizing committee of the East Asia Cup officially announced the 26-player lineup of the Chinese women's soccer team for this year's tournament through the official channels, which covers Wang Frost, Tang Jiali, Zhang Linyan and other players who have won the Asian Cup, showing the strong strength of the Chinese women's soccer team. However, with the conclusion of the East Asian Cup, the team immediately embarked on a training trip to the United States, the coaching team will lead a team of 30 players to the east, including five players overseas will also fly directly to the United States to join the team.
The Chinese women's soccer team regrouped in Qingdao on June 11, and after more than a month of preparations, the team is scheduled to travel to Nagoya, Japan, on July 17, along with the men's selection team, to participate in the East Asian Cup Soccer Championships to be held there. So far, more than 35 players have arrived in Qingdao for training. The coaching team has selected 26 players to participate in the tournament based on their training performance and physical condition, and the organizing committee of the East Asian Cup has stipulated that each team can only register a maximum of 26 players.
Given that the team will head directly to the U.S. for a four- to five-week stretches after the East Asian Cup and plans to play no less than 10 warm-up matches, the coaching staff decided to take 30 players with them on the trip. In addition, five overseas players, including Shen Mengyu (Celtic), Zhao Yujie (University of Florida), Yang Shuhui (Suvayo), Tu Linli (Icelandic FHL), and Shen Menglu (Euron Athletic), will also meet up with the larger U.S. team at the end of July.
It is worth mentioning that Tang Jiali, an attacker who used to play for Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, has returned to China and joined our women's football team's East Asia Cup squad as a Shanghai player, which means she is no longer sure to play for Tottenham Hotspur FC.
