On July 8, the Swiss powerhouse Grasshopper women's soccer team officially announced that our soccer goddess Zhang Linyan has joined the Grasshopper women's soccer family on a one-year lease.
At the age of 21, Zhang Linyan, who plays for China's Women's Super League giants Wuhan Chegu Jiangda Women's Soccer Team as an outstanding striker, has already hit six goals in the first 10 rounds of this season's Women's Super League, topping the list of local scorers.
Zhang Linyan was selected for our national youth team at all levels and has now become a stalwart of our women's national soccer team, which she has represented in seven matches so far. Earlier this year, she won the Asian Cup with her team and scored the first goal of her national team career in the final, and was also honored with the 2022 Asian Cup Best Young Player Award.
Grasshopper Women's Football is currently enjoying a strong run in the Swiss top flight, having managed to reach the semi-finals of the playoffs in the 21/22 season and winning second place in the Swiss Cup.
Facing the opportunity of joining Grasshopper Women's Football, Zhang Linyan said, "It is a great honor to join Grasshopper Women's Football. I will cherish the precious time I have playing in Switzerland, train hard to improve my soccer skills, and at the same time, deeply experience the European soccer culture and professionalization standard. I would like to express my special thanks to Wuhan Jiangda Women's Football Team for their great support on my way to stay in the world, and I look forward to growing up and contributing more to China's women's football during my tenancy at Grasshopper Women's Football Team."
