On June 24, Sports Weekly revealed that the Korean Professional Football League had made a decisive decision to postpone the four rounds of K1 League matches during the East Asian Cup.

The Korea Professional Football League has reportedly adjusted its K1 league schedule in order to fully prepare for the 2022 East Asian Cup. The 22nd round of the league, which was originally scheduled for July 17, was moved up to the 16th, while the national team departed for Japan the following day. The 23rd round, originally scheduled for July 22-24, has been rescheduled for Aug. 27 and 28, with the 23rd round postponed to Aug. 29 if Jeonbuk Hyundai and Daegu FC advance to the AFC Champions League semifinals.

The 24th round of the tournament, which was originally scheduled for July 26-27, has been rescheduled for August 20-21. The planned 24th round matches of Suwon FC against Jeonbuk Hyundai and Gangwon FC against Daegu FC have been moved to August 10th. The 25th round of the K-League, originally scheduled for July 29-31, was postponed to the 30th and 31st for some matches in consideration of the return of the national team.

It is worth mentioning that after the conclusion of the friendly match against Egypt, the KFA, the soccer league and the national team held urgent consultations. South Korean national team boss Paulo Bento insisted on having his starting lineup play in the East Asian Cup, and eventually the K1 League schedule was adjusted with concessions from the KFA, but the main changes were limited to the timing of the tournament.
