After the expiration of his contract with Guangzhou, Luo Guofu returned to his hometown of Brazil and joined Club America Mineiro. Talking about his current situation, Luo Guofu revealed:
"All is well at the moment, I went through a two-month waiting period for offers from Chinese clubs after the Vietnam game, but unfortunately did not receive them. Putting on the Chinese jersey made me feel nostalgic about leaving the Chinese league. The wealth of playing opportunities offered by America Mineiro was my primary consideration in choosing to join."
Recalling the experience of choosing to take Chinese citizenship, Luo Guofu said:
"It was just a short ten-minute decision. The five years I spent in China made me fall in love with this country. To represent the national team is a rare honor for me."
He continued, "I hope to be in the best shape to play for the national team. I will keep working out every day to keep my athleticism up and try to perform in the Guangzhou team in a way that will give me more chances to play in the national team."
