On May 26, the Zhejiang team departed from Hangzhou straight to Haikou after completing the swearing-in ceremony for the new season. The following day, the team was scheduled to play a friendly match against the U19 national football team, which was preparing for the U20 Asian Cup qualifier. Gu Chao, as the team's main goalkeeper, was rightfully included in the starting lineup by manager Qiaodi. However, after completing a save, Gu Chao unfortunately re-injured himself when he landed on the ground, fracturing the ring finger of his left hand.

After the incident, Gu Chao was urgently sent to the hospital for examination. It was not until the 28th that the club confirmed arrangements for him to return to Hangzhou for treatment. 29th, Gu Chao left Haikou and returned to Hangzhou to prepare for surgery at a local hospital.
