Today, May 25, Beijing time, Chongqing soccer team honorary member Wu Qing, through the social platform officially announced his retirement decision.

In a statement on his social media platforms, Wu Qing looked back fondly on the 20 years he spent with the team:

"Since joining the team in 2001, I have unselfishly dedicated my youthful years and the peak moments of my career to this team. Although we haven't won much glory, my attitude has always been to go all out and put my best foot forward. Because behind my name is the pride of Chongqing, I hope I can become a symbol of this city. So, I always wanted to fight for my city, my coach, and my teammates until the last moment. Now, although I still have the strength and courage, the position on the field no longer belongs to me. I am sad to see my playing career come to an end, but as I see my young teammates struggling for the future, I wish them the best of luck in finding their own battleground. I know there is a lot of confusion in everyone's mind at the moment, but life goes on and the past can only be a memory, so may we all get through this time in peace."

Wu Qing, 40, has played for Chongqing since 2006, totaling 185 appearances and contributing 14 goals and 10 assists.
