Recently, domestic soccer star Dai Weijun has become the center of attention because he has been owed wages by Shenzhen Football Club for four months. He has submitted an application to the Chinese Football Association (CFA) requesting to be reinstated as a free agent. According to the latest news, a reporter revealed that Ligue 2 team Sochaux FC has invited Dai Weijun to have a trial, while many European clubs have also expressed strong interest in him. In the evening, Dai Weijun's legal advisor released a statement on his personal social media, emphasizing that the FA's access rules go hand in hand with the free agency rules.

Dai Weijun's legal counsel, Bing Zhang, noted:

The notice issued by the Chinese Football Association (CFA) on April 3 on the grace period for clubs to deal with salary arrears is in fact an adjustment to the original access rules of the CFA; however, it does not mean that the CFA has revised the free agency rules (FIFA stipulates two months' salary arrears, and the majority of Chinese Super League (CSL) work contracts stipulate three months' salary arrears). The access rule and the free-agency rule should be applied at the same time. Therefore, while the FA allows clubs to default on wages, players can still apply for free agency due to a two-month wage arrears.
