Early this morning, an exclusive report from the Oriental Sports Times revealed that Xu Xin, the former Taishan midfielder, is expected to join Shanghai Seaport, a move that will undoubtedly bring about a qualitative leap in Seaport's midfield strength as the new season is about to begin.

Looking back at Xu Xin's journey with Taishan, he had signed a contract with the club that included a base contract and four option years. However, at the end of last season, Xu Xin did not choose to extend his contract and therefore left the club as a free agent. Meanwhile, Taishan quickly brought in former Guangzhou midfielder Liao Lixiang, and Xu Xin seemed to be closing the distance between himself and the harbor.

Currently, the Harbour team not only includes powerhouse players such as Yang Shiyuan, Buytijiang and Abraham, but also captain Oscar and foreigners Paulinho and Muy are also mainstays in the midfield and front. This makes the competition for local players in the midfield position especially fierce. Nonetheless, considering the season long injury situation and the need for national team selection, this lineup configuration is actually exactly what the team needs.
