
On April 14th, the Chinese Super League newcomer Wuhan Sanzhen Football Club came out with a heavy transfer news: 29-year-old attacking defender and former national team regular Xie Pengfei, has formally transferred from Cangzhou Lions Football Club to join.
In the 2020 season, Xie Pengfei won the Chinese Super League title with Jiangsu FC, however, with the dissolution of Jiangsu FC, he chose to join Cangzhou Lions. In the previous season, he played 19 matches for Cangzhou Lions, contributing 4 goals.
Xie Pengfei has been playing soccer since he was 3 years old. As a student, he attended Guiyang Experimental No. 2 Primary School, which is also the alma mater of former Zhejiang Greentown (now Hangzhou Greentown) team captain Wang Song.
When he was in the third grade of elementary school, Xie Pengfei was brought to Shenzhen to receive soccer training. During that time, he was carefully coached by well-known coaches such as Xie Yuxin and Zhang Zengqun, and his skills were significantly improved.
In 2006, Xie Pengfei officially joined the youth training system of Zhejiang Greentown Football Club and served as the captain of Hangzhou Greentown's U17 youth team, and in October 2010, together with Liu Binbin and Zhang Qi, he was selected by the CFA for a one-year study abroad program at French B club Metz.
Since then, Xie Pengfei has been selected for the national junior team, the national youth team, the national Olympic team up to the national team.On March 21, 2019, Xie Pengfei made his debut for China in the first match of the China Cup against Thailand. He had also been selected in the national football team's preparation list for the Qatar World Cup Asian Zone Top 40. With his speed and breakthrough ability, he won the favor of national team coaches including Lippi, Cannavaro and Li Tie.
