The 31-year-old Jeonbuk Hyundai star Iyotsenko's path to a Chinese Super League (CSL) transfer appears to be riddled with thorns, the latest revelations from South Korean media have revealed.
Recently, Iyutsenko has attracted the attention of Shandong Taishan and Shanghai Harbor, two of the top players in the Chinese Super League, and he himself is satisfied with the olive branch thrown out by Shandong Taishan. However, ten days have passed and the news of Iyuchenko's transfer is still quiet.
Jeonbuk's contract with Iyotsenko expires this December. If Iyuchenko leaves the club, Jeonbuk could expect to receive a significant transfer fee. However, Iyuchenko's role in the offense should not be underestimated, and his departure could have a significant impact on Jeonbuk's performance, especially with the team's current struggles.
According to Sports Weekly, Iyotsenko was introduced by Sun Junho, who played for Shandong Taishan, and has a strong desire to join the Chinese Super League. However, negotiations between Shandong and Jeonbuk have been slow, and Shandong is actively seeking a solution to facilitate the transfer.
Iyotsenko landed in the K-League in 2019 and burst onto the scene the following year with a nine-goal performance, before finishing the 2020 season at the top of the league's scoring charts with 19 goals. Last season, he scored 15 goals for Jeonbuk, contributing to the team's league title.
