Bakambu, the Congolese striker who has played for Beijing Guoan for three times, moved to Europe earlier this year to join Ligue 1 powerhouse Marseille after ending his contract with Guoan. In an interview, Bakambu gave his insights on the Chinese Super League, saying that Ligue 1's international status is far superior to that of the Chinese Super League and is highly recognized internationally.

Talking about his adaptation at Marseille, Bakambu said, "When I first arrived, I felt the enthusiasm of the team. I thought it would be difficult to integrate, but it's very different. The understanding between my teammates is gradually developing and I'm still adapting. Despite being a giants, the atmosphere in the locker room is surprisingly friendly. I've been given a lot of opportunities to play in a short space of time, which I treasure. I'm trying to find the rhythm of the game and every time I play I'm more convinced of my choice. Hopefully I can keep up my form and contribute to the team."

Faced with the challenge of finding his best form, Bakambu firmly stated, "I am ready to meet the challenge and actively adjust my form. I am confident in my ability and my physical condition continues to improve. I am confident that I will be at my best by the end of the season. Marseille is currently second in Ligue 1 and the season has only just begun, so we still have a long way to go. I am confident that our efforts will be rewarded in the end."

When asked about Ligue 1 versus international standards, Bakambu responded, using the Chinese Super League as a reference, "That's an interesting question. Ligue 1 is internationally renowned and I think it is more than a notch above the Chinese Super League. It takes a concerted effort from the players to reflect the strength of the league."

Bakambu, 30, joined Guoan from Villarreal in January 2018 for a transfer fee of €40 million, and in his three seasons at Guoan, he made 74 appearances and 70 starts, scoring 53 goals and assisting 14 times. In January of this year, Bakambu terminated his contract with Guoan and joined Marseille with a contract until the summer of 2024. So far, Bakambu has made two starts at Marseille, scoring two goals.
