In the just-concluded 2022 Women's Asian Cup final, China's women's soccer team narrowly defeated South Korea 3-2 to win the championship glory. The CCTV Sports Channel Football Night program then conducted an instant interview with the returning Wang Frost.
Wang Frost confessed in the interview that while the Asian Cup victory was gratifying, it didn't mean everything. She emphasized the importance of being clear-eyed.
Recalling the night of the championship, Wang Frost was overwhelmed with emotion: "Lying in bed last night, my heart was full of excitement. Seeing many fans on the network to pay attention to and support our achievements, I feel very touched and thank them for their trust and cheering."
Talking about the current situation, Wang Frost said, "Everything is going well and I can comfortably sleep in the business class. As for my injury, I still have some pain due to swelling during the flight. The medical team will treat me during the isolation period when I come back."
In the first half, our women's soccer team was down 0-2, and Wang Frost revealed the team's setup at halftime: "Although we were down by two goals, we were still full of confidence. Director Shui also encouraged us that with 45 minutes left, why don't we let go? He has always trusted us."
In the second half, Wang Frost was replaced, she said bluntly, "More nervous than on the field, only through shouting to cheer for their teammates. That feeling of heartbreak made me almost short of oxygen."
Talking about the eventual reversal of the victory, Wang Frost said: "It was really tense, but we all held our breath and watched our teammates recover the score one ball at a time, and eventually overtake. When the killer goal was scored, everyone on the bench rushed near the sideline, and I was so excited that I almost fainted, paralyzed on top of Li Ying, and it was really exhilarating. I've always wanted to prove myself and it was really hard to be on the final podium."
On the successful conclusion of the Asian Cup, Wang Frost said, "Of course it is very precious. We've always wanted to show ourselves in Asia and to be able to dominate on the highest stage in Asia, which was our small goal. It means a lot to all of us to win this title together."
Afterwards, Wang Frost calmly said, "We still need to wake up to ourselves. As Mr. Shui said, the Japanese women's soccer team's technique, tactics and passing control are better than ours, and we need to learn from them. We still have a lot to work on, and this championship doesn't mean everything. In the future, we need to put in more effort and move forward firmly towards our goal."
Talking about her future plans, Wang Frost said, "Let's see. There are still club matches after returning home, and the injury needs to be recovered. When the injury is almost recovered, then consider the next plan."
