Today, with the dim light of the morning sun on January 31st, Football Daily unveiled an in-depth conversation with Shenzhen Football Club's foreign aid player Caldecott. In this interview, Caldecott shared his vision and plans for the future.
Looking back at the just concluded Chinese Super League, Caldecott injected a strong firepower into the team with his impressive stats of 11 goals and 3 assists. Talking about his first season, Caldecott sounded firm: "In the 2021 season, we achieved a lot of milestones, and the teamwork was seamless. Our dream was to be among the AFC Champions League, and although we sadly missed out on qualification, I gave my all to every game and tried to score goals. Unfortunately, injuries have caused me to miss a few matches, but I am confident for 2022 and we definitely have higher goals in sight."
Looking ahead to the new season, Caldecott is ambitious: "I'm eager to surpass last season's performance and fight for a better league position. Our team goal is to surpass last year's performance and fight for the top spot. Personally, I want to increase the number of goals I score and make sure I get more chances to play. Also, I expect this year's schedule to be fairer for every team."
Faced with a question about whether he would stay in Shenzhen, Caldecott gave a firm answer: "I have a contract with Shenzhen until 2023, and I believe everything has been arranged. I always have the intention to stay and fulfill my contract, so I'm looking forward to the future and I'm willing to continue to fight for the team. I feel very happy here."
As the Chinese New Year approaches, Caldecott also offered his sincere Lunar New Year wishes to the Chinese fans: "The years go by like a shuttle, and the New Year begins. As in the cycle of life, the old ends and the new begins with confidence and vigor. I wish my teammates and the whole country a joyous time and a harvest of many achievements and victories in the new year." (W/T Duck Duck)
