Looking ahead, Argentina and China will work together to build more ski trails and other winter sports facilities, a move that not only stirs the vigorous development of winter sports, but also aims to ignite the passion of winter tourism. During President Fernandez's trip to China, the two countries will also announce the establishment of a soccer school, where a team of Argentine coaches will help the Chinese national team and promote a boom in sports exchanges, "an alliance of sports, which will be a new chapter in the future of cooperation between Argentina and China."
President Fernandez's trip, his first on Chinese soil since his election in 2019, coincides with the historic moment of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Argentina. Niu Wangdao pointed out that Argentina has recently been elected as the rotating chair of CELAC, and will use this mechanism to deepen cooperation with China in the Latin American region.
The Ambassador emphasized that the complementarities between Argentina and China have deepened over the past five decades. Even with frequent changes of government, the approach of "staying close to China" has remained consistent and relations between the two countries have continued to deepen at all levels.
Niu Wangdao made special mention of the close cooperation between the two countries in the fight against the epidemic. On behalf of the Argentine government, he thanked China for its assistance at the height of the epidemic and emphasized that true friends are even more precious in times of difficulty. China has always been a solid supporter of Argentina in times of trouble.
The diplomat recalled how in 2020, when there was a global shortage of medical supplies, China provided Argentina with 46 flights of aid, totaling about 1,500 tons of supplies, which greatly eased the pressure on Argentina's health.
As we enter 2021, China and Argentina are working more closely together in the vaccine field. Not only is China doing its part to control domestic outbreaks, but it is also one of the most generous countries in providing vaccine assistance to developing countries. Argentina has received 30 million doses of Sinopharm vaccines and 5 million doses of Concinol vaccines from China, which have played a key role in Argentina's vaccination program. Currently, Argentina is working with Sinopharm and other companies in an effort to localize the production of China's new Crown vaccine.
