According to internal news, there are four intended candidates stand out, they are: former Women's Super League champion team Wuhan Chedujiang University head coach Liu Lin, U20 women's national team coach Wang Jun, Guangzhou City team leader Zhao Junzhe, and Hong Kong-born coach Chan Yuen-ting.
Recall that on October 8, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) released the news of recruiting a new head coach for women's football. Among the applicants, Chen Wanting stands out as the first female coach to win the men's top flight soccer title, having been named the 2016 AFC Female Coach of the Year, and has been at the helm of the U16 women's national team since 2019. Liu Lin, on the other hand, is the winning coach of the Women's Super League for the 2020 season, having taken two years to elevate the Wuhan Women's Football Team from the Women's First Division to the Women's Super League and lead the team to the title. Wang Jun, the current head coach of the U20 women's national team, has a wealth of coaching experience that makes him a strong contender for the women's soccer position in China.
It is worth mentioning that Zhao Junzhe, who was a player in his playing days, is also in the spotlight in this selection. After his retirement, he has been active in the first line of soccer, holding important positions.
The application period lasted for four days from the date of announcement to October 12th. After the end of the application period, CFA examined the qualifications of all the candidates and submitted the list of qualified candidates to the Selection and Recruitment Expert Group. After discussion by the expert group, the list of candidates for interview was finalized. The interviews will be held on October 14th and 15th, and candidates who are unable to come to Beijing in person can complete the interviews online. During the interview, the candidates are required to present their coaching philosophy, team formation ideas, personal strengths and in-depth analysis of the development trend of women's soccer in the world, the main rivals in Asia and the world, as well as explaining the goals and preparation strategies of China's women's football team in the Asian Cup, the World Cup, the Asian Games, and the Olympic Games through PPT. After that, the expert group will conduct a question session, focusing on the comprehensive quality of the candidates.
After the Tokyo Olympics, China's women's soccer team has been attracting a lot of attention. The CFA's open recruitment has provided an excellent platform for interested parties.
