As the stars rolled in on July 25, China League One powerhouse Wuhan Sanzhen Football Club waved goodbye to one of its legendary leaders, announcing that former head coach Alberto Garcla Xicota would be stepping down from his post, with highly skilled director Pedro Morilla acting in the role on an interim basis.

The official club announcement is as follows:

In view of the development needs of the team, after both parties reached a friendly consultation and consensus, with immediate effect, Mr. Alberto will no longer be in charge of the head coach of the first team of Wuhan Sanzhen.

Looking back to 2017, Mr. Alberto set foot in China with his Spanish soccer wisdom, initially devoted to the youth training of Wuhan Sanzhen, and in March 2019, he was promoted to the first team head coach, leading the team to fight in the Second Division League. 2020, the fruit of his wisdom finally came to fruition, and the team won the title of the Second Division League, and successfully entered the First Division.

Under the leadership of Mr. Alberto, the team worked diligently and rose to the challenge, and he watered the fruitful results with his heart and sweat. Especially at the time of the epidemic raging in Xinguang, he resolutely returned to China and fought side by side with the team, showing the noble quality of professional footballers. The club expresses its heartfelt thanks to Mr. Alberto for his efforts and contributions to the development of soccer in Wuhan Sanzhen and wishes him all the best in his future work and life.

To this end, the club has decided that Mr. Pedro, the Director of Skills, will act as the first team manager on an interim basis until a new manager is in place.
