Recently, a number of international media outlets, including the BBC and the Guardian, broke the story of former U.S. national team star Wambach's arrest for drunk driving. In the wake of the incident, Wambach issued a heartfelt apology on his personal social media Facebook page.
It is reported that on the day of the incident, late Saturday afternoon local time in the U.S., police officers on patrol found Wambach driving a vehicle on the street in violation of traffic signals, so they stopped her vehicle. The police noticed that Wambach had been drinking during the inspection and took her to the nearest police station to undergo a breathalyzer test. A Portland Police spokesperson revealed that Wambach's breathalyzer test results were over the limit.
