July 20, Beijing time zone, the Dutch Football Association officially announced that its women's national team midfielder centerpiece Spitzer regretfully said goodbye to this year's Olympic Games due to a knee injury.

The news has been announced by the Dutch Football Association on their official website.The 31-year-old Ajax star suffered an unfortunate injury in training yesterday and is not expected to return to action for the next few weeks, meaning that Spieser will miss out on all competitions at the Olympics.

Speiser is currently the most cited player on the Dutch women's national team, having accumulated 188 appearances.

In this year's Olympics, the Dutch women's soccer team is in Group C with Brazil, China and Zambia. Their first match will be against Zambia on July 21st, followed by Brazil on July 24th and finally China on July 27th.
