The soccer war is burning to the border of Vietnam as the national soccer team meets another strong enemy! According to local Vietnamese reports, in anticipation of the upcoming Top 12 tournament, Vietnamese soccer has begun to move with the intention of naturalizing a number of high-level players. Among them, a Vietnamese-born player with Czech roots, Filip Nguyen, has been listed as a preferred target. The goalkeeper, born in 1992, has been playing in the Czech league for many years, with over 100 games of experience, and has been honored as the best goalkeeper by fans.
Filip Nguyen has not only been an impressive performer in the Czech league, but has also been nominated for the Czech Golden Ball Award. In 2019, he officially took Vietnamese citizenship, qualifying him to represent the Vietnamese team. Last year, he was called up by the Czech national team for a UEFA tournament but was unable to play due to an epidemic. This opportunity gives him a chance to play for Vietnam and show his strength.
Filip Nguyen's contract with the Czech League is said to expire next summer, when he will have the opportunity to negotiate with interested teams. Currently, more than two Vietnamese league teams have expressed interest in bringing in the goalie. One of the reasons why Vietnam is considering bringing in the keeper is the poor form of star keeper Dang Van Linh, who failed to participate in the Top 40 stage of the competition and played less time in the J-League.
Nonetheless, the Vietnam head coach is still hopeful that Dang Van Linh will be able to return to the team. Whether or not Dang Van Lam is able to return to the team, bringing in Philip Nguyen would not be a wrong choice. Like Philippe Nguyen, Dang Van Lin is a mixed-race player with Russian blood. This is a wake-up call for the Chinese team to learn more about the new goalie's strengths and weaknesses in order to prepare for the upcoming challenges.
