On the night of July 7, FIFA's official website announced the 22-player lineup for the Tokyo Olympics soccer team. China's women's soccer team, Wang Frost, Wang Shanshan, Wu Haiyan and other well-known stars are listed, but the side of the fast horse Tang Jiali unfortunately did not make the cut. The official website of the AFC responded to this, saying that the list of our women's soccer team is quite surprising, especially Tang Jiali and other famous players were not selected.
In our women's soccer roster for the Tokyo Olympics, which was announced last Wednesday, we saw a number of young players while some senior names were not on the roster," the AFC official analyzed. This includes previous Olympic qualifiers star striker Tang Jiali, captain Ma Jun, as well as Lou Jiahui and Yao Wei. In their place are four players who have not previously been selected for the national team and five players with no more than five national team appearances. The newly promoted players in the lineup include goalkeeper Ding Xuan, midfielders Liu Jing and Wang Yanwen, and forward Uri Gumura from Changchun, who has yet to record an appearance in an international tournament."
The AFC official further stated, "Despite the surprise of this list, Jia Xiuquan's list is not short of experienced players. Captain Wu Haiyan, strikers Wang Frost and Wang Shanshan all managed to make the cut, while goalkeeper Peng Shimeng also made it to the list. In the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, China's women's soccer team is in Group F with Brazil, the Netherlands and Zambia, and their first group match will be a fierce showdown with Brazil on July 21."
