The deep expectations of the Prime Minister have taken root in my heart. Our national team has a high proportion of party members and a positive atmosphere. Head coach Nian Weisi, coaches Ren Bin and Zhang Junmei were all Party members and became role models for me to learn from; players such as Gao Fengwen, Qi Wusheng, Rong Zhixing and Wang Houjun were not only excellent in soccer skills, but also pursued progress in politics. With the belief of striving for national glory, inspired by the Party members, I solemnly submitted my application for joining the Party in the national team. on November 10, 1972, the branch meeting of the soccer class of the sports department of the National Sports Commission was held, after comprehensive comments and opinions, the Party members voted and made a resolution. My introductions to the Party were made by head coach Nian Weisi and teammate Yang Limin, and the branch secretary was Zhang Junmei. in December.

In 1975, I retired from the national team and aspired to be as good a coach as my mentor, Nian Weisi, to cultivate more soccer talents.In 1978, I went to Taiyuan as the head coach of the Shanxi soccer team, and led the team to a historic breakthrough into the top eight of the fourth National Games in 1979. At that time, the team leader and branch secretary Bai Longzhang had a firm party spirit and helped the team greatly. I benefited greatly from the integration of soccer affairs and branch party building.
In 1984, I was admitted to the coaching training course of the Beijing Sports Institute and served as the secretary of the Party branch for the first time. This class is also known as the "college class", a total of 72 students, class president Zhang Wei is our national shooting team world champion, other students from our table tennis team, archery team, basically are also world champions. How to serve as secretary of this party branch? I drew on the party building methods of Bailongzhang, pay close attention to the construction of the branch; three years in the same window time, eat, live and learn together, sportsman's sportsmanship is common. Tenacity, unity and cooperation, for the country to win, is the belief belief of each of us, the branch work is also carried out more smoothly. Many students asked whether they had to rewrite their application for joining the Party, as they had already submitted it in their original units. I suggested that they contact their respective original units and transfer the materials to the relevant departments of the university, and the branch would then carry out follow-up work.
Because we were all so good, the Party branch of our class was also recognized as an advanced Party branch in Beijing. There were more than 30 Party members in the branch, and with the addition of more than 20 students who had joined the Party before enrolling in school, the number of Party members was more than 50 by the time we graduated.

In 2000, I bravely took the first step to establish Genbao Soccer Base, focusing on cultivating excellent youth soccer talents for Shanghai and China. Although the Genbao base is not a state unit and is a social youth training organization, I have always attached importance to the construction of the party branch and highly valued the ideological education of young players.

In my opinion, a correct motive for joining the Party is of paramount importance. Becoming a party member requires suffering before enjoyment. We played football in the planned economy era, and party members had to give up the chance of a pay rise to the masses; now that soccer is marketized and professional players are earning a good income, they have no choice but to play football well, and becoming a party member means having higher and stricter requirements for themselves! As an old member of the branch, I will also make a suggestion: the branch development of party members, not only to see the performance of playing soccer, but also to see whether there is a correct motive to join the party. This motive, is his faith, his original heart!

Every week, I give lessons to the young players at the base to educate their minds.
