On June 24th, a bombshell news quickly spread among the Italian media: Shanghai Seaport's foreign player Arnautovic seems to be on the verge of pulling out of his contract, aiming straight at Serie A side Bologna.
According to Di Matteo's official website, the Bologna club is ready to sign Arnautovic. The player is set to open termination talks with the Shanghai seaport in a bid to rekindle his soccer career in Serie A.
Although rumors of Arnautovic's imminent departure have been going on for days, Shanghai Seaport executives have firmly denied the news in an interview, calling it untrue.
Arnautovic, 32, has played four games for Shanghai Seaport in the Chinese Super League this season and has contributed three goals. His contract with Shanghai Seaport expires in 2022 and he is currently valued at €10 million in the German transfer market.
