A new chapter in the career of Chinese goalkeeper Benjamin Lai was ushered in on May 29, when the J5 League Okinawa SV club issued an urgent statement revealing that Lai would be returning to his home country after leaving Okinawa SV after the seventh round of the Kyushu League on May 30 due to being called up by the Shaanxi U20 All-China Team.
Benjamin Lai, born on June 2, 2001, played for the Chongqing Football Association before moving to the Shaanxi Provincial Youth Training Camp and, through careful planning, joining Japan's Shimizu Incite to start his journey abroad. Last summer, he moved to Okinawa SV, but did not get a chance to play in the team this season. Currently, Okinawa SV is participating in the Kyushu League, Japan's fifth tier league.
In a press release on the official Okinawa SV website, Benjamin Lai fondly expressed his gratitude to his fans, sponsors and partners, and said, "In the face of the heavy challenges posed by the Shinkan Epidemic, it has been an exceptionally difficult journey this season, and I am sincerely grateful for everyone's support. This time, I will return to Japan as a member of the Shaanxi team to participate in the domestic National Games. I have benefited greatly from my experience in Okinawa SV, and I will do my best to show my best form. Thank you all!"
