On May 13, Li Yi, head coach of the Sichuan Jiuiu team, faced a series of hot issues when he participated in the official interview of the Central League.
-How did you cope with the team's lack of success in the first few rounds and the doubts that surrounded it?
I don't think it's because of a goal drought that you necessarily suffer from questioning. In fact, there has been no shortage of skepticism since I took over the position, which seems perfectly normal to me. As a public figure, it is inevitable for a coach to be questioned. In fact, everyone should be able to see the team's metamorphosis. Real soccer fans will analyze the team in depth instead of following the trend blindly. Compared to last year, this year's game has made a qualitative leap. The players are still the same, but you can feel that they have all improved significantly from last year, and everyone's growth has pushed the team forward.
--How do you manage the team?
When I took office, I first emphasized that the team is a whole, and I am also one of the members, all of whom are dedicating themselves to the team. Now, we are like a sailing ship, and only if everyone works hard towards the front, the ship can sail farther.
-Your candid personality once made you an internet sensation, does this outside voice affect you now as a head coach?
When I was younger I may have suffered a bit, but now I might just smile a little. I wouldn't say I'm indestructible now, I remember back in '05 it wasn't just the local fans that were discussing me, it was the national fans. I think it's important to make yourself stronger. As a coach, it's a harsh reality that you have to be ready to step down when you come on board. Some people may just be gunners, but for me, they don't have any pressure and can't do me any harm. It may be too naive for them because I've faced far more difficulties before and these are just a piece of cake for me now. To be honest, I think it's a bit naive. I think it goes against the principles of being a human being to ask me directly if there are any problems, not to appear to be one thing and do something behind the scenes.
--What are the team's goals for this year?
