In a social media post on April 22, the country's
women's soccer
Wang Frost, the soul of the offense, shared a touching video via Weibo, writing that life's ups and downs are nothing more than commonplace, and that she is grateful to her friends who have always trusted and supported her.
The 3-minute, 57-second video features Wang Frost reflecting on her January 2013 debut for the
women's soccer
national team debut, as well as her maiden goal scored in December 2014; from her first World Cup trip in 2015, to her Olympic debut in 2016; to her first ever trip to Europe to play soccer in 2018, the same year she was crowned Miss Soccer Asia; as well as a regrettable World Cup exit in 2019, to a crucial 2021 shutout of South Korea to help her team reach the Olympics.
Wang Frost's microblogging text reveals: "Three years, I experienced the peak of brilliance, but also suffered a bleak trough; there are moments of laughter, but also struggling to want to give up the moment. This may be life. No one can have smooth sailing. It's easy to give up, but it's hard to hold on. The ups and downs of life are just the norm. In this normality, I have learned to reconcile with my past self, learned to calmly accept the unpredictable results, and more importantly, I have learned to persevere, and learned to accumulate strength in the silence. I would like to thank those friends who have always trusted and supported me - 'not absent when you are at your peak, not gone when you are at your trough'. Tokyo, we won't see you again."
