How the national team feels and how it performed last season.

In the just-concluded Premier League season, Watkins performed brilliantly, contributing 19 goals and 13 assists for Aston Villa, helping the team successfully enter the Champions League. For this achievement, Watkins confessed that sometimes he still can't believe he can reach such heights. His career has taken a qualitative leap since joining Aston Villa for a transfer fee of £30 million.

Watkins said, "Sometimes I feel a bit incredulous that I'm still not sure I should be there after I joined Aston Villa for a £30m transfer fee. However, after a season like that, I think I'm in a pretty good place."

He also talked about the mental growth: "A big reason for being able to perform well this season is because of my mentality. You train every day physically and technically, but it's also a must for a striker to be under mental pressure. You can go three games without scoring and then you start to doubt yourself. Now I will calm myself down first because I know I will get my chances and then I will try to finish the goals."

Watkins admits that in the past he would have been more disappointed when faced with a goal drought, but now he has learned how to adjust his mindset. He believes the media underestimates his ability: "From my point of view, I think the media probably underestimated me, I had a very good season, I scored a lot of assists and goals in the middle of the season and I got the chance to represent my country in the Europa League. Everyone will have their own opinion and I understand that."

Talking about working with Kane, Watkins said, "I want to play with Kane and hopefully we can play the kind of relationship he had with Son at Tottenham. All I need to do is always be ready, that's my mindset right now. Joselu is a great example, without his goals Real Madrid wouldn't be in the final of the Champions League."
