Today, Guangzhou City FC officially announced that Colombian-born wing speedster Caldona has officially joined the team and both sides have signed a three-year contract. Meanwhile, Caldona will take over the No. 7 gown left behind by former captain Xavi.

The 26-year-old Caldona, born in Cali, Colombia's third-largest city, on January 9, 1995, is only 170cm tall, but has nimble feet, specializing in the right foot, and is active as a winger on the soccer field.

Caldona began his career in his hometown of Cali Sports, where he made his mark in the Colombian Primera División. Not only did he play in the Colombian professional league, but he also had brief stints in Liga MX and Mexico's Primera División.

Since 2019, Caldona has been taking his place in the South American top flight. In January 2019, he moved from Ceará in the Barcelona Liga to Sporting Pasto in the Colombian Liga, contributing two goals and one assist in 16 appearances in all competitions in just six months. In the summer of the same year, Caldona moved to Leon, Mexico, where he appeared in nine matches for the team, contributing one assist. In July 2020, he returned to Colombia, joining Caldas XI.

Capable of playing as both a winger and a forward, Caldona's style of play is similar to that of modern soccer's wing forwards, which is a perfect fit for Guangzhou City's tactical system. He combines the technical characteristics of a wing-back and a forward, with excellent ball control skills and organizational abilities. In addition, he has a wide range of movement in front of the field, solid positioning skills, and can break the deadlock for the team at critical moments.
