The former Korean soccer superstar openly claimed that he had not rigged the match, but denied that it was because of the benefits he received. In his press conference, he apologized to the KFA and the fans, but deep down he probably felt more for the two teams of Chinese soccer fans. Sun Junho, a foreigner who joined Shandong Taishan for a high price, is now notorious for his illegal behavior. He seems to have no remorse for his actions, and even appears to be quite disgruntled, speaking loudly about his grievances.

But the Chinese Football Association (CFA) showed no mercy on this and dealt him a fatal blow. Officials of the KFA revealed that the CFA had officially sent a stern letter to them announcing a lifetime ban for Sun Junho and informing FIFA of the decision. The letter clearly states, "We have reported Sun Junho's life ban to FIFA and the AFC and are discussing follow-up actions. If FIFA establishes a disciplinary committee to review our disciplinary action and informs member associations of Sun Junho's sanction, he will be banned from participating in soccer activities in any member association."

The decisive action of the CFA has won public praise. Whether you are a foreigner or a local player, once you touch the red line of the law, you have to bear the consequences. Referring the incident to FIFA means that Sun Junho could face a worldwide ban, or even a lifetime ban from stepping onto the pitch. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also responded publicly to the incident. Spokesperson Mao Ning said, "In March of this year, our judicial authorities held a public trial of Sun Junho, a South Korean citizen suspected of 'bribery of non-state officials'. Sun Junho pleaded guilty to the crime, repented in court, and did not file an appeal. Our country is a country governed by the rule of law, and the judicial organs handle cases impartially in accordance with the law."
