At this critical moment, he was faced with two very different paths: one was to challenge himself and try his hand in Europe's top leagues; the other was to play it safe and join one of Asia's top teams to fight for a starting position. Surprisingly, he chose the latter. Admittedly, the aura of the Europa League is more glamorous, but whether he can gain a foothold is unknown. In contrast, a move to the Thai league, which is comparable to the Chinese Super League, may add more possibilities to his career path.
My personal opinion is that if Guo Tianyu performs like a fish out of water in the Thai Premier League, it might inspire more Chinese players to go abroad for gold. After all, in the context of the current economic pressure on Chinese Super League teams, the Thai Super League is not an ideal alternative.
Guo Tianyu has undoubtedly become a model for domestic players!
In the past, our players were disdainful of the Southeast Asian leagues, thinking that the level of play there was low and that it was a disgrace to the country. Today, however, the level of competition in the Thai Premier League is approaching that of the Chinese Super League, and players can not only maintain their competitive status, but also earn a good income. Why not? If Japanese and Korean players can put their heads down, why can't our players?
Now, Guo Tianyu has bravely taken this step! Regardless of the outcome, we should applaud him for this courageous pursuit of career continuity.
