After the incident came to an end, the CFA imposed a harsh penalty on Huo Shenping, a four-match ban and a fine of 40,000 RMB. Despite smashing a number of water bottles against Dalian Imbo during the match, and vandalism against Guangzhou's vehicle after the match being ignored, the FA only issued a warning and penalty for the playing area, which is almost an understatement of the offense.
In comparison, the penalty imposed on Guangzhou by the Chinese Football Association (CFA) was more severe, yet for Dalian Yingbo, it was an area to be explored, and even the management of the venue appeared to be lax. Soon after, Qingdao Hainiu's home stadium also saw a similar incident of water bottle smashing, but the FA's response was only to empty the stadium for two matches.
Obviously, the penalty imposed by the FA on Dalian Yibo is too light compared to the K-League or Chinese Super League standards. Even if we look at Qingdao Hainiu's punishment, Dalian Yingbo should at least face a round of empty matches.
Fortunately, Dalian Yingbo did not suffer from an empty field, which made the team breathe a sigh of relief. After all, the fine of 440,000 RMB is just a drop in the bucket compared to the huge losses that could have been incurred by the empty field. As a result, the investors did not mince words and announced that they would waive the fines for beating player Wang Xuanhong and others, even paying out of their own pockets.
Is it perhaps the generosity of investors that stems from the trust and support of the FA?
Unfortunately, Huo Shenping doesn't seem to be getting the punishment he deserves. Perhaps the most he could have gotten was an automatic suspension for the red card. But the FA finally found a balance and suspended several players from Dalian Yingbo, allowing them to "enjoy" the same treatment.
