In a recent report by Fox Sports, the NWSL Gulf Coast Women's Soccer team managed to lure Zambian international Kundanangi to the team in a transfer deal that went for $787,000, setting a new high for transfer fees in women's soccer.
The Baywatch women's soccer team officially welcomed the 23-year-old forward in a five-year contract on Tuesday, with a fifth year as an option to renew, and the hefty transfer fee is a testament to Kundanangi's market value.
Kundanangi, a player who has had an outstanding career with CFF Madrid's women's soccer team, showed great goal-scoring efficiency last season, scoring 25 goals and assisting 3 times in 29 appearances for the team. This season, despite only appearing in 14 matches, she has delivered 8 goals and 2 assists. She also represented the Zambian national team at last year's Women's World Cup, scoring 10 goals in 18 matches.
Lucy, General Manager of Gulf Coast Women's Soccer, exclaimed, "Kundanangi always keeps her composure in front of the goal, and no matter what position she's in, she's able to finish her shots in a variety of ways. We are confident that she will continue to grow with our club and fulfill her potential to bring more firepower to the offensive end of the team."
