Chengdu Rongcheng goalkeeper, as a new face in the Chinese men's soccer warm-up matches, recently in an interview with "Red Star News", his youth team coach Xiang Xuchao shared his training process.
Xiang Xuchao, former goalkeeper of Chengdu Sheffield United Reserve Team, retired from the game and joined the coaching career. Since 2015, he has been the coach of the U15 team at the Derry Football Training Center, and among his many disciples is this rising star.
"I was impressed with him the first time we met." Xiang Xuchao recalled, "I took him to a goalkeeper coaching course in Chengdu before I brought him in, and that's when he made his mark. I thought he was smart and physically gifted, and predicted a promising future for him."
Xiang Xuchao then mentioned the goalkeeper's experience in France, how he overcame difficulties in a foreign country, and how he achieved self-growth through hard work.
"His experience makes me feel very happy." Xiang Xuchao said, "His grueling life in France made him more independent and taught him how to adjust himself."
Speaking about the goalkeeper's performance in the Chinese Super League, Xiang Xuchao said, "The stability and calmness he showed in the game were given to him by his experience in France during those years."
The goalkeeper also stood out in the national team selection and Xiang Xuchao is looking forward to his future development.
"He often communicates with Wang Dalei in the team and learns a lot from the experienced big brother." Xiang Xuchao said, "I believe he will become an integral part of the team."
The goalkeeper not only excelled on the field, but also won over the coaches with his sunny disposition and relentless hard work.
"He's like a big kid, always smiling." Xiang Xuchao said with a smile, "This personality made him popular and gave him the trust of the coaches."
"I hope he can continue to work hard, learn from the seniors in the team and contribute to Chinese soccer." Xiang Xuchao said, "This is also my original intention of working in youth training, hoping to cultivate more excellent young players."
