Before the professionalization of Chinese soccer in 1994, the highest honor for Sichuan soccer was the fifth place in the National Games, which was achieved in the 1975 and 1989 Youth National Games. After the start of the professional league, Sichuan soccer's dream was never extinguished, but it was never able to touch the glory of the championship.
In 2000, Mianyang Fenggu beat Tianjin 2-0 in the final of the National Football League B, the first national championship in Sichuan's soccer history. 2004, Sichuan Guancheng was the runner-up in the final of the AFC Cup, defeating Shandong Luneng 1-2 in Changsha's Heron Stadium. 2007, the new Sichuan football team lost to Shanghai Dongya in the final of the second division, missing out on the title once again.
On November 5, 2018, Sichuan Annapurna beat Nantong Zhiyun 1-0 in the final of the Chinese B League at the Rugao Stadium in Nantong, Jiangsu Province to win the Chinese B League title for Sichuan soccer, which many consider to be the first real national professional league title in the history of Sichuan soccer.
As for the Central League Championship, Sichuan soccer has had many brushes with it. Chengdu Sheffield United made it to the final twice, in 2007 and 2010, but both times ended as runners-up.
