This season, however, both offense and defense have improved, scoring 17 goals in 13 rounds of league play and conceding only 13, with a goal difference of +4. And after City suffered two consecutive defeats to Liverpool, despite United's 4-point lead, the goal difference was only +3, largely due to the fact that the defensive end conceded too many goals, as many as 19 goals.
