In the first week of November, the entire soccer world was shaken when one of the biggest stars in Portuguese soccer, Sting's head coach Rubin Emolian, was poached by Manchester United FC. The announcement of the decision to promote B team number one Zuiao Penrina to the position of first-team coach was like a fire that ignited the soccer world.
Despite the fact that Zuul Penrina is slightly older than Emolian in terms of age, they have fought together under the same coach and together they have given great games for the Stingers. I am sure they have both gained a lot under Emolian's tutelage.
In the United coaching staff's line-up, the team decided to promote from within, with the 40-year-old Oponlina making the jump from the B team to the first team. The former right-back, who played for well-known teams such as Valencia and Hannover as a player, played for Stettin for three seasons, including the one coached by Emolian. At the end of the season, he chose to retire and transition into a coach. From the Stettin U23s to the B team, and now the first team, the growth trajectory of Oponlina is clearly visible.
After his official inauguration, Zuulio Penrina made a statement: "I am very honored that the club has placed its trust in me. At the same time, I would like to pay tribute to Emolian for his contribution to Portuguese soccer and to the Sting. His legacy is not only a string of brilliant achievements, victories and records, but also a deep team spirit. I am aware of the great responsibility I have, so I will work with even more enthusiasm and motivation to achieve more success for the club."
